I've been exploring it for the last 24 hours. Obviously too early even for a preview, but so far, I'm impressed! ISO's up to 6400 are pretty usable; 12800 is OK, but you have to do some pretty heavy-duty NR to make it even somewhat usable.

Even then, if you want the shadow recovery, you can't use ISO's 100, 6400, or 12800 (which is what it uses to give the expanded dynamic range). Still, not a bad trade-off, especially since you can make it a two-button-push switchoff.

Image quality is impressive. For Canon shooters, that new screen is an answer to prayer. The detail, brightness, and clarity -- even in sunlight -- is VERY nice. The new menu system is familiar but greatly polished from previous iterations.

Ergonomics are familiar to anyone with a 40D; to any Rebel shooter (as I was) it's like moving from a cardboard box to a Park Avenue apartment. The balance with my flash and lenses completely alters the shooting experience.

More as I become more familiar.

Re: Canon announces EOS 50D

Just got mine.
